Been Caught Stealin'

Rumor has it the treasurer has been kicked off the Florida team for being unable to explain the disappearance of team funds, or embezzlement in French. I am shocked, shocked I tell you, to hear it was an old acquaintance of mine. A significant handler on last year's championship team, he might fancy himself. A fellow writer of ultimate musings, though perhaps lacking editing skills and, it seems, any love for his teammates.

Seems the team found out about this a bit ago, and finally decided on their course of action. And now people are beginning to talk.

Yo, dog, you.
Yeah, you.

The one I'm talking about here. Remember when we were under the shelter at Potlatch during the dance party and you started getting all douchebag aggro with me regarding Wisconsin and Florida? I thought the whole thing might be a persona you take on, as many do, within this world of disc. It's weird to think it was actually real.

And, as to the team that has to deal with this: fuck. It's the last thing one needs to focus on as the Series gets underway, but I'm sure they're big enough to get past it, as other teams in the past have been.

This all reminds me of the other dodes in the Ultimate Hall of Infamy, the players on Minnesota and Santa Barbara that got their teams kicked out of the Series. Which makes me wonder: who is the bigger dode, the one who takes money from his team or the one who gets their team kicked out the series? I'm still not quite sure on this, but I'm leaning towards the DQ'ers.

The person that gets his team DQ'd is by far the bigger dode. Money can be made and had again. College eligibility is priceless.

I heard that he has since left school in hopes of turning pro at Dischoops (TM).

weird. nothing about this on rsd. his ego must of taken a hit when they won regionals without him.

Here is the real shocker to me: Florida made a professional gambler their treasurer. Isn't that giving a fox the keys to the henhouse?

But hey let's have some compassion for Cyle, he probable has his head in a vice grips somewhere in Vegas right now. On what bet do you think he screwed himself? Miami Heat? That is my guess.

Luckily for Florida, they could play with five people and make it to finals. Cyle was filler.

Way to break the story, hec.

I hope you're happy.

This really was none of your business, and it certainly wasn't any of your blog readers' business. But now, thanks to this gossip column, the entire Florida team has to continue to deal with something I'm sure they would rather put behind them.

I thought you said you had some good material forthcoming back in January but I guess a gossip column is what you've resorted to. Why don't we get any original Hh material...Has the well run dry? Or are you too skeert to let the public dissect what's really on your mind?

If the University of Florida is anything like the university I coach at, the Ultimate club is receiving funding from the student body, as well as from fundraising efforts like tournaments. So the treasurer absconding with the cash is indeed a public matter.

We talk so much about "legitimacy" of our sport, and then shit like this happens. I need to know about it so that I can work to prevent it ever happening anywhere that I am coaching/playing.

is this the same cyle from florida that wrote that centex was a better tourney than nationals? hmmmm......he clearly does have his priorities messed.
